Funeral services were held at the Hodge Funeral Home Chapel for lifetime St. Maries resident William "Butch" Pharness, 51, who died January 11, 2004, in St. Maries.

He was born in St. Maries June 2, 1951, to William and Lyla Pharness, and he graduated from St. Maries High School in 1970 before attending North Idaho College for one year.

He worked at Bill's Cycle Center until 1980, when he went to work as purchasing agent at the St. Maries Complex.

In 2001, he married Debi Crowson in St. Maries. Later that year, he retired due to declining health.

He is survived by his wife; son Dustin Pharness, Coeur d'Alene; daughter Ciji Pharness, St. Maries; grandmother Margaret Arrhenius, St. Maries; mother Lyla Pharness, St. Maries; and sister Vickie Harvey, Kenmore, Washington.
