Curtis Donald 'Curt' Albee



      

Memorial services were held at Hodge Funeral Home, St. Maries, for Curtis Donald "Curt" Albee, 75, St. Maries, who died February 12, 2004.

He was born in Hardy, Iowa, October 9, 1928, to Kenneth and Edith Albee, and he grew up in Hermiston, Oregon. During World War II, he served with the 1st Cavalry, and following his discharge he moved to Oakesdale, where he worked on area wheat farms.

In 1955, he moved to Harrison and helped build the grain elevator before going to work for Stimson Lumber. He married Helen Chamberlain in Coeur d'Alene in 1956, and they made their home in Harrison while he worked for the Department of Transportation and at a sawmill in Rose Lake. In 1964, he went to work at the Potlatch Mill in St. Maries.

He and Helen were divorced in 1979,, and Curt moved to St. Maries. He enjoyed bowling, being around people at area restaurants, smoking his pipe and conversation over good coffee.

He is survived by daughter Lisa Albee, Oldtown; brother Winston Albee, Orting, Washington; and sister Betty Webley, Idyllwild, California.
