Drowning victim recovered from Rose Lake

Kootenai sheriff's divers recovered the body of a 53-year-old eastern Washington man who apparently fell out of his boat while fishing this afternoon.

Dispatchers were advised of a possible drowning at about 1 p.m. April 21 when a passerby, who saw the man fishing earlier, saw the empty boat near the shore.

When deputies arrived, the trolling motor was still running, the fishing line was in the water and the occupant couldn't be found.

Divers entered the water a short time later, and discovered and retrieved the body at about 4:15 p.m.

The man's name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
