Leona Harrang Hall, born Aug. 1, 1908 in Stanley, Wis. to James P. and Malena (Peterson) Harrang, passed away in Beaverton, Ore. at the age of 98 on May 19, 2007.
Leona grew up in Foster and Sweet Home, Ore. She graduated from Southern Oregon Normal School and taught school for five years before entering Good Samaritan School of Nursing in 1933. She completed her public health nursing credential at the University of Oregon School of Medicine.
After finishing her education, Leona worked as a school and industrial nurse for the American Smelting and Refining Company in Mullan, Idaho. In 1945 she entered the Army Nurse Corps. That same year she married Robert Glennis Hall of Lebanon, Mo. They settled in Wallace, Idaho where Leona served as the school nurse for 23 years.
Following retirement, the Halls made their home in King City, Ore. where Bob died in 1978. Leona resided at Maryville Nursing Home in Beaverton at the time of her death. She is survived by her daughter, Linda Beeman of Clinton, Wash., and her brother James P. Harrang of Eugene, Ore. along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to The Salvation Army, 1785 NE Sandy Boulevard, Portland, OR 97232. A memorial service will be held at Gilliland Cemetery in Sweet Home, Oregon on Saturday, May 26th at 11 a.m.
