The sixth annual Boundary County CommUNITY Breakfast was a huge success, according to three-year volunteer veteran Monica Sale.
The breakfast, a truly community-inspired event, is hosted once every September, allowing Boundary County residents a morning of a tasty, free breakfast and time to socialize with family, friends and neighbors.

"It was a great way to get out and meet the community," said Boundary County newcomer Janice Knight.
Volunteers arrived at the Boundary County Middle School at 5 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 6 to begin the preparations of making eggs, pancakes, and biscuits and gravy served to community members.
"We had roughly 10 adults and 10 students on hand to help prepare and serve the food," said Sale. "This year was bigger. We had more people. We ran out of juice, ham and gravy."
For Bonners Ferry high school senior and soccer player Chris Gerhardt, volunteering was a great experience to meet the Canadian football team the Badgers were playing against.

"They (the coaches) were excited to eat biscuits and gravy as they said they could not find that meal anywhere in Canada," said Gerhardt.
The breakfast is hosted by the Better Boundary County Coalition, with volunteers provided by the Badger Booster Club and the Bonners Ferry boys' soccer team. All food donations were supplied by Boundary Trading Company. Proceeds from the event, which included a silent auction, will go towards the North Hill walking trail, with a small donation given to the Bonners Ferry Badger Booster Club.
