Corps to hold informational meeting on 2009 Libby Dam operations

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will hold an informational meeting regarding 2009 Libby Dam operations on May 13 in the Ponderosa Room at the Libby City Hall, starting at 7 p.m. MDT.

Representatives from the Corps will present information on operations for 2009, including an update on current water conditions, hydrological forecast and operations for fish, and an update on Kootenai River ecosystem restoration efforts in Idaho. There will also be a short overview of recreation opportunities and activities available at Libby.

Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about - and ask questions about - operations at Libby Dam as they relate to local and regional issues, and will also have the opportunity to hear the concerns and opinions of residents from throughout the Kootenai River watershed.

Libby Dam is a multi-purpose water resource developed for flood risk management, hydropower, fish and wildlife, and recreation.

For more information about the meeting, contact Mick Shea, Libby Dam project manager at 406-293-7751, ext. 211.
