Recreation Information for Libby Dam for the week of July 27



      Park Ranger/Interpretive Specialist

Libby, MT - As of July 24, 2009 the current outflow from Libby Dam is 7,000 cubic feet per second (7 kcfs). Outflow from the dam will hold at 7 kcfs through the rest of the summer.

The current elevation above sea level for Lake Koocanusa is 2439.9 feet which is 20 feet from full pool. The projected elevation for July 27th is approximately 2441.9 feet. McGillvray beach is accessible at elevation 2453 ft and the mooring dock at Souse Gulch is currently open.

The current temperature of the water released into the river from Libby Dam is 54-55 °F and the surface water on Lake Koocanusa is in the low to mid 70's.

Junior Ranger programs this week will focus on fish in the Kootenai. The programs will be held in Libby on Wednesday at 11:00 AM at Fireman's Park and in Eureka on Thursday at the public library at 3:30 PM.
