Boundary People
Good-Bye Joanne Erickson
Nov 9, 2009, 12:05

After 27 years, the University of Idaho Extension Office is saying good-bye to longtime support staff member, Joanne Erickson, effective November 30, 2009. Jo is often the first face you see as you enter the Extension Office or the first voice you will hear on the phone. Everyone at the Extension Office will miss her but wish her all the happiness in the world as she leaves the Extension Office for a life of leisure - although if we know Jo, she will soon be involved in other community activities and wonder how she had the time to work!

Over the years, Jo has researched home horticulture problems including identifying bugs, plant disease/treatment and weed identification. She has also mailed soil samples for countless farmers and home owners. One of her big projects has been coordinating the Master Gardener Series and Jo has been an active Master Gardener herself. In addition, she has tested countless pressure canners and researched and answered more food safety and home food preservation questions than we can count. She has scheduled the Medicare Education appointments for over 700 beneficiaries in just the past five years.

In her years in the Extension Office, Joanne has accepted 4-H enrollments from multiple generations of Boundary County children - she often comments on how fast they grow up. Jo is always willing to help where needed at the fair each year. Thank you, Jo, for all of the years. You will be missed!
