Multi agency effort nets arrest
Nov 2, 2005, 08:24

During a traffic stop on November 1, around midnight, a Spokane County Sheriff’s Office deputy learned that the driver was wanted on a $50,000 warrant. The driver fled the scene, and the deputy pursued the vehicle until it crossed into Idaho. At that point, the Idaho State Police and Kootenai County Sheriff’s deputies took over the assumedpursuit.

When the Shoshone County Sheriff’s Office received notification that the vehicle was headed their way, Shoshone deputies continued the pursuit as other agencies dropped back. The vehicle failed to stop in Shoshone County and entered Montana where it eluded Mineral County deputies.

A whilel later, the Shoshone County Sheriff’s Office received notification that the pick-up truck was spotted near Hahugen westbound on Interstate 90. Deputies from Mineral County followed the vehicle until Shoshone County deputies were ready to intercept it.

Authorities attempted to stop the vehicle on I-90 until it exited the freeway in downtown Wallace, ID. The vehicle continued through Wallace at approximately 60 mph and entered Osburn, ID, where authorities clocked the truck at 90 mph.

Due to the extreme speeds, deputies discontinued the pursuit as the vehicle entered into Terror Gulch, just north of Osburn, ID. Authorities knew this section of the road was difficult to negotiate and setup spike strips at the lower end of the gulch. At that time, a resident of the area called and notified deputies that the vehicle had just driven through her yard heading up an impassable old logging road.

Deputies from Shoshone County, ISP and Osburn blocked the road, and the pick-up attempted to drive through a rough portion of the road and became stuck. When deputies instructed the driver to shut off his engine, he again attempted to flee. At that time, deputies were instructed to shoot out the trucks tires. Following that action, the occupants put up their hands and surrendered.

Authorities arrested William A. Wilson, 22, of Liberty Lake, WA. Wilson was wanted on a $50,000 warrant out of Kootenai County for possession of a controlled substance. Authorizes also arrested Sara L. Jacobson, 22, of Spokane, WA, and Travis J. Walker.

Both Wilson and Jacobson have extensive criminal records. At this time, the investigation is continuing and authorities seized the vehicle.

Shoshone County Sheriff Chuck Reynalds seized this moment to congratulate everyone concerned for the safe arrest of those individuals and the cooperation of local citizens.
