Forested Habitat May Be Critical for Canada Lynx
Apr 17, 2008, 08:52
The Coeur d'Alene Press reported that federal wildlife officials have proposed more than 42,000 square miles of United States forested land to be designated as critical habitat for Canada lynx.
However, only a small portion of that is planned for North Idaho.
Since 2006, wildlife authorities have managed the 50 square-mile swath of Boundary County forest for lynx, but and the proposal to add the title of critical habitat is merely "a formality," said U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service biologist Bryon Holt.
