The Boundary County District Spelling Bee for the Elementary and Middle Schools will be held next week. The Middle School Spelling Bee will be held Wednesday, January 15 at the Middle School. The Elementary Spelling Bee will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2020, at the Free Methodist Springs of Living Water Church on Labross Hill Road in Bonners Ferry.

The District Spelling be is sponsored by the Boundary County School District #101, Rotary Club of Bonners Ferry with help from Naples Helping Hands. Thanks to all the organizations that make the Spelling Bees possible.

Prizes for the District level Spelling Bee are provided by the Rotary Club of Bonners Ferry, who not only believes in supporting local educational opportunities like the District Spelling Bee but also likes to support local shops for the prizes.

The District Spelling Bee is an oral competition with elimination on a “miss-and-out” basis in traditional spelling bee manner.

First place will win a $30 gift certificate to Bonners Books, Second place will win a $20 gift certificate to Bonners Books, and all participants will receive a nice sweet treat purchased at Super 1.

The 1st place winner in each class will advance to the North Idaho Regional Spelling Bee, which will be held at North Idaho College in Coeur d’Alene in March. The 2nd place winner will become the Alternate, so we encourage you to go to the Regional Bee and at least watch. If the first-place person is unable to attend, the second-place winner will be seated in competition.

Good Luck Spellers!
