Dear Editor:

It is with bittersweet feelings that I write this letter congratulating Charlie Dennis for his appointment as Chief Deputy for the Bonner County Sheriff’s Office. For never having met Sheriff-elect Elaine Savage, I certainly have developed a high level of respect for her, based simply on this choice she has made. Bonner County’s gain is certainly Boundary County’s loss.

Having worked for Chief Deputy Dennis for the past four years at the Boundary County Sheriff’s office, I know firsthand about his strong work ethic and goals for a Sheriff’s department. His high level of integrity, family values and honesty are beyond reproach. Charlie Dennis’ vision for improving law enforcement and community relations, increasing employee morale and maintaining officer safety are but a few of the outstanding goals he sets for himself and his workplace. His achievements at the Boundary County Sheriff’s Office will be noticed and appreciated for years to come – from updating the technology available to employees to setting the high standards for the department that he, himself, lives by. Charlie is a well-liked and highly respected law enforcement officer for Boundary County and, I am sure, will be well received in Bonner County.

I applaud Sheriff-elect Elaine Savage’s choice for her second-in-command. I certainly wish Charlie the best in his new endeavors and congratulate the Bonner County citizens on their new Sheriff and Chief Deputy. I am sure they will make an awesome team and be a huge asset to the Bonner County Sheriff’s Office.
